Our services - Physiotherapy

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy helps the muscles and joints of the body work efficiently and effectively through a variety of techniques. Physiotherapy can improve healing timeframes of injuries and function by decreasing pain and the stiffness associated with inflammation. Physiotherapists specialise in rehabilitation following injury, surgery or from deconditioning associated with arthritic conditions.

What does Physiotherapy treatment involve?

Initially your physiotherapist will assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and explain the findings to you. Your Physiotherapist will develop a treatment plan specific to your condition in order to get you back to sporting, leisure and daily function activities. This will include advice on exercises that you can do between treatment sessions.

At Lincoln Road Physiotherapy, we use a variety of treatments including:

  • Manipulation and mobilisation
  • Massage (deep tissue / muscle release)
  • Acupuncture / dry needling
  • Strapping
  • Muscle balance assessments
  • Gym based strengthening
  • Return to work and ACC funded gym programmes
  • We provide treatment as part of the Careway programme

At regular intervals in the treatment process your Physiotherapist will evaluate your progress. This allows for modification of treatment goals when necessary. One of the most important aspects of Physiotherapy treatment is the advice that we give regarding movement, activity modification, exercise and daily function. This advice can help improve recovery timeframes, as well as preventing further injury in the future.
